PHYSIOTHERAPY WHEREVER, WHENEVER

How we can help you

A new ankle sprain, calf injury, shoulder pain, long term back pain, or ongoing knee pain getting you down?

We know how irritating and worrying these injuries can be. We will uncover the cause of the issue, make a plan to get you better, and talk about out what may stop you from getting there.

The Online Physiotherapist often provides same-day appointments giving you an action plan without delay. Meeting online, means that you can be wherever is convenient to you. On pitch side. During your lunch break. At home, or even whilst travelling if necessary!

Our specialists have a wealth of knowledge, and experience! Our experts are here for you in the areas of; sports injuries, running injuries, post-Surgery, mid-late rehab for spinal cord injury and stroke (mid-late rehab), women’s/pelvic health, and much, much more!

Research shows that early management of injuries with the right level of expertise helps you to recover quicker and stops problems from becoming bigger in the future. You will not be told you need a set number of appointments to get better, and you will not be told that you need to rebook time and time again.

We believe in getting you back to your activities as fast as possible.

Injuries we treat

Everything we do here at The Online Physiotherapist is founded in our five core values:

Low Back

The onset of low back pain may be gradual or sudden. Pain may be brought on by simple muscle tension or by damage to the joints, discs, or nerves. Factors such as  stress, posture, muscular weakness, and other soft tissue changes, tend to contribute to the length of time you suffer from back pain. Back pain is unpleasant and can make you feel helpless and irritable. Recovery requires a thorough evaluation and a planned rehabilitation programme.

Ankle Foot Pain

The inversion ankle sprain, which is injury to the ligaments on the outside of the ankle, is the most frequent acute ankle injury. The most common cause of a progressive onset of foot arch pain, with peak tenderness toward the back of the arch close to the heel, is Plantar Fasciitis. Although it can be stubborn to cure, we have not had one yet which has not improved with Online Physiotherapy. The achilles tendon, which is situated at the back of the ankle, is another typical source of pain, and does well with Online Physio. You can be confident that Tim, and The Online Physiotherapist team have dealt with all types of ankle injuries.

Shoulder

The 'rotator cuff' tendons are frequently the source of steady onset of shoulder pain. Acute shoulder discomfort is typically caused by trauma, which can range from reaching rapidly to retrieve a falling object to violent dislocation from body contact. A torn rotator cuff tendon or damaged cartilage can also cause shoulder pain. Frozen shoulder is a common condition after shoulder surgery, or for those with diabetes.  Acromioclavicular joint separation or clavicle fracture can result from a fall onto the shoulder.

Neck

Neck pain can develop gradually or suddenly. Pain can result from damaged joints, discs, or nerves, as well as from simple muscular tension. Stress, posture, and muscle weakness are among those factors that contribute towards neck pain becoming more significant and and longer lasting. It  is endlessly exhausting and irritating to have neck discomfort and headaches which can interfere with your sleep and focus. Get in touch today to be rid of your pain fast.

Low Back

Low back pain may sneak up on you gradually, or hit you all of a sudden. Pain can be simply due to muscle tension, or from damage to joints, discs or nerves. The longer the back pain lasts, the more factors tend to contribute, such as stress, posture, muscle weakness and chronic soft tissue changes. Back pain is not fun, and can leave you feeling frustrated and helpless. A detailed assessment and a structured rehabilitation program is key for recovery.

Ankle Foot Pain

The most common acute ankle injury is the inversion sprain, with damage to the ligaments on the outside of the ankle. The predominant cause of a gradual onset of pain in the arch of the foot is Plantar Fasciitis, with peak tenderness at the back of the arch next to the heel. It can be stubborn to treat, but will usually resolve with persistent rehabilitation. Taping of the arch, as guided by a Physiotherapist, can be effective for shorter term pain relief. The achilles tendon at the back of the ankle is another common course for pain.

Shoulder

A gradual onset of shoulder pain is often caused by issues with the ‘rotator cuff’ tendons. Acute onset of shoulder pain generally results from trauma, which can range from reaching quickly to grab a falling object, to forceful dislocation from body contact. Shoulder pain can result from cartilage damage, or a rotator cuff tendon tear. A fall onto the shoulder can cause acromioclavicular joint separation, or clavicle fracture.

Neck

Neck pain may sneak up on you gradually, or hit you all of a sudden. Pain can be simply due to muscle tension, or from damage to joints, discs or nerves. The longer the neck pain lasts, the more factors tend to contribute, such as stress, posture, muscle weakness and chronic soft tissue changes. Neck pain and headaches can affect your sleep and your concentration, which is endlessly tiring and frustrating.

Elbow

Elbow discomfort often results from overuse and develops gradually, but it can also happen suddenly from a direct blow, a strong movement, or a fall onto the arm. Tennis elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, is the most common cause of elbow pain and is brought on by overuse, ultimately the aggravation of tendons around your elbow junction. Another typical cause, this time on the inside of the elbow, is "golfers elbow." Contact us right away if you're unsure of the origin of your elbow pain and need a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Wrist and Hand

Our wrists and hands are prone to injury because we use them so frequently and keep them at the centre of the action, making them susceptible to anything from Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) to dislocated fingers and wrist sprains, from carpal tunnel syndrome to fractures and nerve injuries. If you depend on your wrists or hands for employment, an injury to either of them can have severe consequences. Contact us today to receive your action plan to recovery!

Hip and Upper leg

Injuries or arthritis can result in hip pain, but there are numerous additional structures in the region that can also be painful. In addition to the hamstring and quad muscles, nerves, such as the sciatic nerve, can also transfer discomfort to the buttocks.
Book now

Knee and Lower leg

70% of knee pain is caused by the hip. Other primary causes of knee pain are arthritis, knee instability due to specific muscle weakness, and cartilage damage. The most common causes of lower leg pain is 'shin splints’ - a painful and exhausting injury to your shin muscle, commonly experienced in runners. In severe situations, this can result in stress fracture, or worse, compartment syndrome (nerve or circulatory entrapment). Urgent diagnosis is needed in these cases. Reach out today to receive your diagnosis.

Elbow

Elbow pain is most commonly a gradual onset of pain through overuse, but a direct blow, forced movement, or fall onto the arm can also cause issues. Lateral epicondylalgia (‘tennis elbow’) is the most common cause of pain in the elbow, with irritation of the tendon/bone junction caused by repeated use. Trauma related bony tenderness generally requires investigation.

Wrist and Hand

From Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) to dislocated fingers, from carpal tunnel syndrome to fractures, our wrists and hands are vulnerable to injury because we use them so much and always have them at the heart of the action. The impact of a wrist or hand injury can be huge, especially if you rely on them for your work.

Hip and Upper leg

Pain from the hip itself can be caused by injury or arthritis, but many other structures in the area can cause pain. Buttock pain can be referred from nerves, and the hamstring and quad muscles can also be culprits.
Book now

Knee and Lower leg

The most common causes of shin pain are often collectively labelled ‘shin splints’. There is usually a history of commencing or increasing impact activity, which results in overload of the muscles around the tibia bone. In severe situations, this can result in stress fracture, in which the pain is more severe and point specific. In non-responding shin pain, a differential diagnosis of compartment syndrome (nerve or circulatory entrapment) must be considered.

This can include previous strokes, current arthritis or deteriorating balance. In accordance with your goals, we listen to you, evaluate your issues, run tests, and finally, create a custom plan for you - working with you to improve your walking and general movement.

Face-to-Face Physio

From much research and The Online Physiotherapist data, 85-90% of conditions are treated as effectively or quicker online. However, for those remaining conditions that necessitate a face-to-face assessment we would be the first to advocate for this. Furthermore, some people simply prefer this format, and we are more than ok with that. On those occasions, we can refer you to one of our Physios within our network – or if you are in the Buckinghamshire region – can see Tim, our lead MSK Physiotherapist.

Personal Training

At The OP, we’re not interested in quick-fix transformations. Mainly because for quick fix, read temporary. The results rarely last much beyond the time it takes to get your ‘after’ photo done and up on your PTs website or Instagram feed. We’re here to help our clients see results that are measurable, sustainable, long term, safe, goal-oriented and results-driven. It may take a little longer than the 8-week ‘new you’ offers you see everywhere, but the results will last a lot longer, too!

This can be due to a whole myriad of causes, including; previous injury or surgery, age or even, having a condition that affects their walking, or the mobility of certain parts of the body. We listen, assess, test and build a tailored plan for you, in line with your goals.
